Sorah Yang is a singer, dancer, choreographer, and teacher. Born and raised in the Bay Area, she moved down to LA in 2009 for school and received her Bachelors in Business Administration from USC in 2012. During college she joined GRV, and has performed on stages like World of Dance LA, The Bridge, Body Rock, Fusion, Vibe, Hip Hop International, Carnival Choreographer’s Ball, and The Hip Drop. While she has been teaching at studios and workshops around Northern and Southern California for the past 6 years, within the past year she was fortunate enough to travel to teach in Hawaii, Virginia, Germany, Russia, and Korea. Sorah believes that her journey to spread joy, empowerment, and positivity through dance is just beginning, and strives to continue to grow and learn as a student so she can progress as an instructor and give back as much as she can.

As this is a special workshop event in collaboration with EPIC Motion, House of Movement PROMOTIONS WILL NOT APPLY TO THIS EVENT.

I'm from Los Angeles California and I've been dancing for 6 years. I started out dancing for my high school hip-hop team. I was introduced to the dance community when I was 16 and from there I saw a whole new perspective on hip-hop and dance in general. My first two youth teams I joined were Nu Era and Goon Squad, who are based out West Covina CA. Once I turned 18, I tried out for my dream team, GRV, which is based out of Walnut CA. Ever since I made GRV in 2011, I have grew tremendously as a dancer, choreographer, and an individual. We've placed 1st at competitions like Bridge '11 &'12, VIBE '13, WOD LA '12 & '13 and 2nd place in USA and Worlds at Hip Hop International. I love my GRV fam and I plan to continue growing with them.
I've also traveled out of the country for dance which I'm totally thankful for. Getting the opportunity to travel doing what I love is inspiring and a dream come true. I've traveled with my team GRV summer '13 to attend the Hip Drop in Sweden and with another group on a China tour. Both were crazy experiences that I'll never forget. Dancing with 40 other people that are close to you in a different country is unbelievable. It became unreal once I got invited to a China Tour weeks after. I got to dance and choreograph in multiple cities throughout China for 3 months with a group called Physical Poets. These moments changed my life and have inspired me to push as a dancer and choreographer. I can't wait to see what lies ahead in my dance career.

In light of Typhoon Haiyan, Columbia University's LIGA Filipina will be  hosting an all night fundraiser, with proceeds going to victims of the typhoon. 

Liga will be holding tables inside and outside of Lerner Party Space to collect donations to our beneficiaries, NAFCON (National Alliance for Filipino Concerns) and Habitat for Humanity.

Many House of Movement Faculty will be performing at this event with MINT Dance Company. We invite members of the greater NYC community to enjoy a night of musical performances, sample Filipino delicacies and learn about the current situation in the Philippines.

House of Movement is honored to have Jake Pesquira of RHYTHM CITY INC & ENT - Dance Management Company/ Artist Production share his knowledge and experience in this special workshop! The workshop is open to dancers of all levels.

Originally from San Francisco and now residing in Los Angeles, Damian "Dmoe" Gomez has an active career as a dancer, choreographer and teacher, appearing in television, film, and alongside the industry's top recording artists. Dmoe has been blessed to work with various artists such as Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry, Queen Latifah, Estelle, Jill Scott, Jennifer Hudson, Erykah Badu, Carrie Underwood, & Jordin Sparks. 

His choreography was featured on Keri Hilson’s In a Perfect World Tour for the song “Slow Dance” and the Jordin Sparks "I Am Woman" performance on American Idol, Regis & Kelley Show, and her US Tour. He had danced in the 2009 OSCARS performance with John Legend and AR Rahman, and the Oprah Winfrey Show with the Slum Dog Millionaire dance tribute for its success in “Best Original Score in a Motion Picture.” He teaches regularly at Los Angeles studios Millennium Dance Complex and Movement Lifestyle and guest teaches at Broadway Dance Center (BDC) in New York.
